Local business have rallied round and supported Katie’s fund raising including: Wag and Bone, Saddleworth Outdoor, Dinnerstone, Lisa’s dog grooming, Naked Bean, Station Brew, Little Owl Farm and Tesco. “That was in the first half of the race in the second it was just head down, concentrating on getting to the finishing line.” “We also saw a man dressed as cheese, there was another runner dressed as slinky dog from Toy Story and also ran next to a rhino for a little while. “We ran with some of the cast from Eastenders for a little while,” she added. Katie and Caroline were also kept on their toes by their fellow competitors. “The first half you don’t really realise you are running because you are taking it all in.” ![]() “Because I wore a cat outfit with ears, whiskers and a tail, the crowds were shouting ‘Katie cat lady’. “But we had never done a marathon together so with it being London as well, it was really special. “Caroline and I have ran 5ks, 10ks, half marathons and the ultra marathon. ![]() “It was an amazing experience and really emotional. “I’m sure I will have recovered by then,” she laughed. I’ve already signed up for next year’s Manchester Marathon which I was regretting when I got to mile 25. ![]() ![]() “It was my fourth marathon but my first in London. “I am pretty chuffed because I didn’t expect that time,” said Katie who ran the route with friend and co fundraiser Caroline Jones from Dobcross. So, she was “a bit sore” but overall feeling fine after her efforts. Katie is no stranger to marathons or ultra-distance races. So, far the library development officer has raised almost £1,500 for the pdsa but wants to boost the final total to £1,900. ![]()
